Accessibility Statement

Basement Bandits wants its website and booking process to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technologies or navigate without a mouse.

Our goal: We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and to improve the site when barriers are identified. This statement describes a goal and ongoing process, not a guarantee that every combination of technology will be barrier-free.

1. Measures we take

We incorporate accessibility into design, content, and development decisions. Current measures include semantic page structure, labeled controls, keyboard access, visible focus indicators, text alternatives for meaningful graphics, status announcements for dynamic content, reduced-motion support, responsive reflow, and accessibility checks in the project’s verification scripts.

We prefer native HTML controls and landmarks. ARIA attributes are used when native semantics alone do not communicate an accessible name, description, relationship, state, or live update.

2. Accessibility features

  • Skip links that move keyboard focus to main content.
  • Consistent headings, landmarks, and policy navigation.
  • Keyboard-operable navigation, calendar buttons, and booking controls.
  • Visible focus indicators that do not rely on color alone.
  • Programmatic labels, required-state information, instructions, and error associations for form fields.
  • Live announcements for calendar details, form status, and successful submissions.
  • Minimum interactive target sizing intended to support touch and mobility needs.
  • Support for browser zoom, narrow screens, text reflow, and user preferences for reduced motion.
  • Descriptive page titles and link text that can be understood out of context.

3. Known limitations

The site includes placeholder band portraits, events, social links, and third-party integrations that will be replaced or activated before final launch. Third-party services such as social platforms, Google Calendar, Stripe, e-signature providers, and merchandise storefronts are outside our direct control and may have their own accessibility limitations.

Dynamic calendar and booking interactions may behave differently across older browsers, screen readers, and mobile assistive technologies. We will prioritize fixes when a reproducible barrier is reported.

4. Compatibility

The website is designed for current versions of major browsers and common assistive technologies. For the best experience, use an up-to-date browser and operating system. Some features may not work as intended when JavaScript is disabled because the calendar and multi-step booking form require client-side interaction.

5. Accessibility feedback

If you encounter a barrier, need information in another format, or require assistance submitting a booking request, email booking@basementbandits.com.

Please include the page or feature involved, what you were trying to do, the browser and assistive technology used if relevant, and a way to contact you. Do not include passwords, payment-card details, or unnecessary sensitive information. We will make a good-faith effort to respond and provide a reasonable alternative.

6. Assessment and review

The site is reviewed through source checks, keyboard-oriented interaction checks, responsive testing, and comparison against WCAG 2.2 and WAI-ARIA authoring guidance. Automated tools can identify only some barriers, so manual review and user feedback remain important. We plan to repeat accessibility checks after real band content and production integrations are added.
